I Am A Monster at Proximity 5.10, 6–10PM
I Am A Monster: New Works by Nathan Margoni opens Friday, May 10th, 6–10PM at Proximity and runs thru July 12th, 2013.
As a graduate of CIA with a Masters in Fine Arts from SUNY Purchase College in New York, Margoni has a distinct way of capturing childhood fantasies and highlighting what is gross, what is funny, and what we fear. Working on a large scale, Margoni's impressive rendering skills are flanked by uncommon materials like tube socks, stuffed animals, hot glue and hair. He also employs interactive elements that invite the viewer to squeeze, pet, and animate his morbid sculptures.
As we get older our abilities to “make-believe” are muddied by the pretentious expectations we set for ourselves. While our fears are wrapped up in breaking news items and mounting bills, there are monsters under our beds begging for our attention. So, get yourself a night-light and join us on May 10th for Nathan Margoni's exhibition, I Am A Monster at Proximity.
