Hi all, Jack St. John's brother-in-law, Chuck is running the Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010 raising funds for Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of Ohio.
"I will be running in the upcoming 114th Boston Marathon, and have decided to take advantage of this opportunity to raise funds for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of Ohio. Prader-Willi Syndrome occurs in 1 ot of every 15,000 births, and is the most commonly known genetic cause for obesity in children. The main characteristic of the syndrome is hyperphagia, or an extreme, constant feeling of hunger that is never satisfied. To date there are no medications, appetite suppressants, or surgeries that have been safe or successful in 'treating' hyperphagia in children with PWS.
The Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of Ohio began in 1986, and in February of 1987 the organization became the 21st chapter under PWSA(USA). The Ohio organization is managed by a board of volunteers, and is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of Prader-Willi Syndrome. Research in this area continues, and is supported by the fundraising such as this, and by those who donate their efforts!
This secure website makes it very efficient and easy to support PWSA of Ohio through on-line donations. If, however, you would rather send a check, that works too (PWSA of Ohio, 4075 W. 226th, Fairwiew Park, OH 44126.) Any amount sent in that way will be added to this page. Please make checks out to "PWSA of Ohio".
I am excited to be able to run Boston for such a great cause. Thanks for your support in helping me reach this goal!"
Chuck
