Brews + Prose returns to their home field, the Ohio City Room at Market Garden Brewery this Tuesday, October 1st at 7PM. Named last week the "best reading series" in Cleveland by Cleveland Magazine, they've got a lineup to prove it:
Award winning writer Laura Taxel cooks, eats and writes about food from her home base in Cleveland Heights. The author of Cleveland Ethnic Eats, she now writes about the Cleveland food scene for Cleveland Magazine and Edible Cleveland, and is a regular contributor to the National Culinary Review and Sommelier Journal. Her new book, Cleveland’s West Side Market: 100 Years & Still Cooking (University of Akron Press, 2012), written in collaboration with Marilou Suszko, features images by her husband, photographer Barney Taxel.
A. Van Jordan, a native of Akron, is the author of four books of poetry: Rise, which won the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Award (Tia Chucha Press, 2001); M-A-C-N-O-L-I-A, (Norton, 2005), which was listed as one the Best Books of 2005 by The London Times; Quantum Lyrics, (Norton, 2007); and The Cineaste, (Norton, 2013). Jordan has been awarded a Whiting Writers Award, an Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, a Pushcart Prize, and has been included in The Best American Poetry 2013.
