The Hodge Artists' Live/Work Studios

Open Studios and Open Forum: A Group Exhibition

Friday, June 22 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday, June 23 1 to 6 p.m.

In conjunction with Artspace/Cleveland's Trolley Tour of Live/Work Space.

The 1905 Hodge Elementary School classrooms were converted into live/work units in the 1980s. The wide hallways now serve as gallery space in which the diverse, and ever-evolving group of resident artists present individual or collaborative exhibitions. Come explore a wonderful building, visit eight artist's studios and see the current group exhibition of guest artists. Plus, walk the Community Labyrinth created by artist Rafala Green.

Directions: The Hodge Artist Studios is located at 1075 E. 74th St. in the St. Clair-Superior Neighborhood. Entrance and parking in the back on East 76th. From St. Clair Ave. turn south on E. 76th St. Go one block. The Hodge School is the first right in the next block. Plenty of parking available!

Resident Artists: Kevin Busta makes welded steel sculpture. Recently he has been combining sculpture and painting to create unique installations. Pamela Dodds' large-scale representational paintings depict critical moments in relationships. They were exhibited recently at Asterisk Gallery in Tremont. Three paintings are also currently on view at Convivium 33- Josaphat Arts Hall. Well-known local ceramicist Andrea LeBlond is a member of Terra Vista Studios. Her larger, sculptural work will be on exhibit. SAFMOD Performance Ensemble creates a fusion of movement, enchanting audiences of all ages. The remarkable constructions of sculptor Charmaine Spencer, created from simple wood, rope and other utilitarian materials, has been exhibited at Spaces, Cleveland State University Gallery and Groop. Painter and draftsperson Lolita Wilson works in still life and abstraction.

Guest Artists: Bernadette Glorioso creates mystical abstract portraits. Jody Hawk's boxes of reconstructed photographed mementos evoke new perspectives on the familiar. Michel Ina collaborates with his clients to create unique custom furniture. "A chair is one of the most exciting things to design...," he says. Lorraine Johnson-Davis paints engaging genre scenes of family life. Michaelle Marschall's body print/paintings were recently on view at True Art in Collinwood.
