The Plain Dealer 2011 Travel Photo Contest

Share your best travel photos in the 2011 Plain Dealer Travel Photo Contest. Prizes will be awarded in each of the following three categories: People of the World, Sense of Place and Close to Home.

Big Box 2012 Week 4 Performances 1.26–1.28

Week four of Big Box 2012 continues with double bill: Marquez Dance Project and Lisa Langford performing The Art of Social Graces, choreographed by Jennifer Sandoval and The Negro Perkins, written and directed by Lisa L. Langford.

CoolCleveland features Pretentious Tremont Artists

Nice CoolCleveland piece on Tim Herron and the Pretentious Tremont Artists. They're part of our Drawn 'n' Quartered event in May and many of us draw there on a regular basis. Always a great way to end the week!

TangoNovo, a nuevo tango experience! Every 2nd Friday in 2012.
Hosted by KB and Carmen and Umberto Amante.

Dance to a variety of modern tango music (with some traditional favorites too) in a high energy, club style atmosphere with custom lighting. We'll also spin unique salsa, cumbia, cha-cha, and merengues with a Euro vibe.

Pamela Dodd's Print Included in Traveling Exhibition

Pamela Dodd's print "Memory's Witness" is included in the traveling exhibition, Global Matrix III: an International Print Exhibition. The Purdue University Galleries presents the show at the Stewart Center Gallery and Robert L. Ringel Gallery from January 9th through February 19, 2012. A contemporary review of fine art printmaking from around the world organized as a traveling exhibition in the U.S. from 2012 to 2014. Previous installments of Global Matrix were presented in 2002 and 2007. The exhibition features artwork from 31 countries around the world. The Stewart Center Gallery and Robert L. Ringel Gallery are free and open to the public.

Stuart Pearl to have a solo show at Butler Institute

Ohio's Butler Institute of American Art has invited Stuart Pearl to have a solo photography exhibition this winter in their Youngstown museum. Ten representative works will be displayed on the second floor of the Beecher Center which adjoins the museum. Admission is free and the work will be on display from January 15 until March 4, 2012.

While visiting the museum be sure to view their permanent collection  that features masterworks by Norman Rockwell, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent and many other icons of American art.
