37th Cleveland International Film Festival 4.3–4.14

The 37th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) will take place April 3rd thru April 14, 2013 at Tower City Cinemas at Tower City Center in Downtown Cleveland, OH. For the past 37 years, the CIFF has been the premier film event in Ohio. This year's festival is bigger and getter than ever. With over 178 features and over 164 short films, there's something for everyone.
Tickets are $12.00 for Members and $14.00 for Non-Members.

Nicolas Weis Featured On Cartoonbrew.com

Murray Hill Life Drawing Group alumnus Nicolas Weis was featured on the site Cartoonbrew.com as they highlight the work of DreamWorks' The Croods crew. Nicolas served as a visual development artist on the film. Nicolas previously worked on How To Train Your Dragon and the upcoming How To Train Your Dragon II, as well as Astro Boy for Imagi Films. Nice work, Nicolas!

Brews + Prose, How Cleveland Eats 3.5, 7PM

Join Brews + Prose Tuesday, March 5th when a panel of distinguished food writers will answer the question: How did Cleveland become a food mecca? They'll discuss the history of Cleveland cuisine and food writing and speculate about the future. The event will take place in the Ohio City Room at the Market Garden Brewery, accessible down the stairs beyond the hosts' stand.

The panel consists of: Noelle Celeste of Edible Cleveland, a new quarterly publication focused on celebrating Northeast Ohio’s local food community. With a team of freelance professionals, Edible Cleveland tells stories that honor local heroes and inspire healthier community.

From 1998 to 2008, Elaine Cicora provided award-winning coverage of Cleveland's emerging dining scene from her post as restaurant critic for the alt-weekly Scene. In 2010, Elaine became the Arts Editor for Scene, including their restaurant coverage.

Since 1998, Joe Crea has served as Food and Restaurants Editor for The Plain Dealer. With nearly 30 years of newsroom experience, Crea has served in a similar capacity for the Orange County Register, Florida Times-Union, Daytona Beach News-Journal, and the Toledo Blade.

Laura Taxel reviews restaurants and writes about chefs and winemakers; food, beverage and dining trends; and culinary movers, shakers and innovators for many local and nationally circulating publications. She is the author of Cleveland Ethnic Eats, a bestselling guide to northeast Ohio's most authentic ethnic restaurants and markets. Her new book, Cleveland’s West Side Market: 100 Years & Still Cooking, was published by the University of Akron Press in October, 2012.
