Big Dog Theater Grand Opening 2.19 @7PM

Well, I guess that the Big Dog Theater, located in the old Centrum on Coventry really IS finally opening. This Sat. 2.19 @ 7PM is the big opening. After a pre-show party at 7PM w/ City & East with light appetizers from Tommy’s, Jeff and Quinn will hit the stage at 8:30PM. Tix for the opening gala include show & dinner from Fracas for $35/person.

Arts Business and Innovation Awards Deadline 3.4

The COSE Arts Business and Innovation (ABI) Awards are accepting applications until March 4. There are four different award categories this year, and top winners in each category will receive $1,000, promotion and visibility opportunities through COSE, in-kind business support and a one year free membership in the COSE Arts Network. Applications and nominations are all online and easy to complete.

Wall Eye Gallery and the Cleveland Clinic join together to bring you it’s all about the heART, a group exhibition benefitting the Helping Hearts Fund, a local organization dedicated to heart transplant survivors and their families. The Akron Art Museum exclusive: M.C. Escher

This week, the Akron Art Museum offers an exclusive opportunity to survey M.C. Escher's four-decade career. Impossible Realities showcases 130 of the artist's finest works, starting with his early book plates, moving on to landscapes, tessellations, and impossible worlds, and concluding with his final 1969 print, "Snakes." Featured are such instantly recognizable works as "Drawing Hands," as well as the extremely rare lithographic stone used for the making of "Flatworms." The exhibition comes from the Herakleidon Museum in Athens, Greece, which houses one of the world's largest collections of Escher's work; Akron is one of only two U.S. venues to host it. After the  February 11 opening the exhibit runs through May 29. Also featured:Unfolding Space, a show by Cleveland artist Sarah Kabot, whose work is inspired by Escher. February 12 through June 11. The Akron Art Museum is at 1 South Main St.

Walk All Over Waterloo: Valentine's Day Edition

Walk All Over Waterloo Weekend, Valentine’s Day Edition is this Friday through Sunday, February 11–13. Whether you plan to spend the weekend before Valentine’s Day celebrating with your sweetheart or mocking the whole affair, the Waterloo Arts District has you covered, with great concerts, dining, shopping, and art.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The WATERLOO ALLEY CAT PROJECT FUNDRAISER. Help the Waterloo Alley Cat Project feed, shelter, spay/neuter, and vaccinate local feral cats! Save-the-Date(s), May 6th and 7th will be the dates for the NEW, EXPANDED Drawn and Quartered III at our new home, Wall Eye Gallery. Friday, May 6th from 6—11PM will be an ART OPENING featuring participants from the four teams; Dr. Sketchy, The Murray Hill Group, Northern Ohio Illustrators Society and the Pretentious Tremont Artists. Pretentious Tremont Artists Change of Venue 2.4 7PM

Change of venue for this week's drawing at the Literary Café, which is closed this Friday.
