HEDGE Gallery: Material Girls 6.19, 5–9PM

As part of its Third Fridays Material Girls opens Friday, June 19, 5–9PM, and will run through September 4, 2015.
This summer, the walls of HEDGE Gallery will be filled with luscious color and the intimate dialogues that are formed between paintings by Katy Richards and Nikki Woods, both graduates from The Cleveland Institute of Art. The show title,“Material Girls” refers to the artists’ use of paint as a thick, gestural material and to the feminist attributes in their subject matter.

CMA's Parade the Circle 6.13 Noon

A favorite Cleveland family tradition, the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Parade the Circle returns for the 26th year on Saturday, June 13 at noon. Rain or shine, this annual art parade will fill Wade Oval with lively sounds and colors, featuring innovative costumes, giant puppets and handmade masks created by international and national artists as well as Greater Cleveland artists, families, schools and community groups. This year’s theme, Recologia Desigual, Never Odd or Even, celebrates the inspiration of creativity, global awareness and community spirit in three cities: Cleveland, San Francisco, California and Ibiza, Spain.

Parade the Circle begins at noon from the Cleveland Museum of Art and proceeds in a counter-clockwise direction around Wade Oval until it spills into the Oval in front of the art museum. From 11AM–4PM, everyone is invited to participate in many hands-on activities offered by local organizations in Circle Village, presented by University Circle Inc. FREE admission to the Parade or to Circle Village.

Join us for CIM's annual summer musical treats! Each summer, talented CIM alumni and their guests offer FREE, lunch-hour concerts every Tuesday in July in CIM's beautiful Mixon Hall.

Little Italy Art Walk 6.5–6.7

This year’s Little Italy Art Walk is shaping up as many galleries are hosting receptions for the event, with wine tastings all weekend. This year also features outdoor artist vendors. The event is free. Friday: Noon–9PM, Saturday: Noon–9PM, Sunday: Noon–6PM.

Designs in Wood – Street Vendor. My style of woodworking is called intarsia: pictorial wood inlay mosaics. Each composition is crafted from separate pieces. Those pieces are individually sanded, rounded, painted or stained, then inlaid to create the finished original design. Kelly Dawson – Street Vendor. Painted Furniture and 3D Sculpture – Unique furniture is the main target for the color. I like to make it “funiture.” I have recently began creating pieces out of found objects and unusable furniture. I use acrylic and latex paint on my pieces. Polymer clay, wire, plastic and glass beads are also be used to create my 3D sculptures. Bright, multi-colors and detailed designs are my trademarks even though I have been known to enjoy painting subtle colored and monochromatic pieces with just a small amount of pattern.

Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival 6.5–6.7

A Dobama tradition, the Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival celebrates its 37th year this season! Hundreds of plays are written and submitted by kids throughout Cuyahoga County, grades 1–12. Dedicated to the memory of Marilyn Bianchi, the festival is the nation's first event of its kind, encouraging kids to celebrate the fun and joy of live theatre!
