Watercolor classes to start at Strongsville Pat Catans

Jeff Suntala will be starting watercolor classes at the Pat Catans in Strongsville on Monday nights. Call the store at 440.238.7318 for more details. Starting the second Monday of September, the 12th, classes 'are reasonably priced and you aren't locked in for a long number of weeks. TangoNovo Friday, 9.9

TangoNovo is a new tango event in the Cleveland area hosted by KB & Carmen and Umberto Amante.

Dance to a variety of nuevo tango music (and traditional favorites too) in a high energy, club style atmosphere with custom lighting. You don't have to know "fancy" steps to enjoy nuevo tango! We'll also spin unique salsa, cumbia, cha-cha, and merengues with a Euro vibe.

Brandt21: 21 Year Retrospective Reception 9.2

This year marks the 21st anniversary of Brandt Gallery, one of the first and longest running art galleries in the Tremont neighborhood. In recognition of Jean Brandt’s ongoing dedication and promotion of area artists and the Tremont Artwalk, Dana Depew and Steven Mastroianni have organized a retrospective of artists who have shown at Brandt gallery.

Walk+Roll in Broadway Slavic Village Sat. 8.13

Not familiar with the Slavic Village neighborhood? No problem! There will be guided bicycle tours led by Great Lakes Touring Company starting at E65th St and Osmond. You can also rent bicycles for $10 during W+R. Please reserve bikes by calling Great Lakes Touring at 330-532-TOUR (8687).

New this year is our Village Treasure Trek – a scavenger hunt for all ages. Join a group or explore Broadway Slavic Village on your own while experiencing some of its unique businesses and neighborhood landmarks. For each place you visit, you receive a raffle ticket that is redeemable for one of many free prizes. The Village Treasure Trek begins at noon and lasts until 2PM, starting and ending at Osmond Court (off of E65 St, south of Broadway Ave and north of St Stanislaus Church).

After the Walk+Roll street activities end around 4PM, join neighbors at Osmond Court for a community concert sponsored by Councilman Anthony Brancatelli. Bring your chair or blanket, play some games, and enjoy live music with your friends and neighbors.

Getting to Walk+Roll by bicycle, walking, or public transit is encouraged, but if you must drive parking is available at: Dolloff and E55th St / Broadway and Aetna / and any of the neighborhood side streets

Feast of the Assumption begins Sat., 8.13, 3:30—11PM

Cleveland's Feast of the Assumption begins Saturday, August 13th from 3:30PM to 11PM. Held in the city's Little Italy neighborhood, it is a four-day street fair that celebrates the Catholic Day of Assumption (August 15), when the Virgin Mary died and assumed her place beside Jesus. The Feast is a fun-filled Italian street party with rides, food, live music, a procession, and lots of fun.

'Guys With Guitars' at Cain Park 8.12 7—9PM

The Mattress Factory: Factory 14s Celebration 8.5

Party with the teenage artists—Darrell, Madelyn, Mimi, Anna and Krystina—who participated in Pittsburgh's The Mattress Factory's summer art course, Factory 14s: "HELLO my name is..." Together with their artist-educator, Cheryl Capezzuti, students will display, perform, and generally tell the story of their intensive 4-week introduction to installation art.

RED DOT Project at PNC SmartHome 8.17


RED DOT Project is currently featured in the PNC SmartHome located on the campus of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. All of the artwork in the home was created by artists who incorporate the principles of sustainability in their artwork. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History and RED DOT Project will present a tour of the environmentally friendly artwork throughout the PNC SmartHome Cleveland exhibit on the grounds of the Museum. The hour-long art tour will begin at 7PM on Wednesday, August 17. Tickets are $11 and include general admission to the Museum. For tickets, call 216.231.4600(General tours of SmartHome, not curated/hosted by RED DOT, are conducted every half hour, except at noon and 12:30 pm on weekdays, 12:30 pm on Saturday, and 5 and 5:30 pm on Wednesdays)

Before PNC SmartHome is moved to its permanent location, art featured in the home will be available for purchase. The SmartSale will be held on Sunday, October 9, from noon to 4PM.
