Skulls & Revolution! @Walleye Gallery 10.29—11.07

Beachland Ballroom's Halloween Show 10.30

It's almost too perfect that those masked men of surf rock, Los Straitjackets are playing the Beachland Ballroom on this night. It's going to be like one of the famed rock n' roll cruises that these veteran entertainers have been known to play over the course of their decades-long career. Everyone who attends will be on the good ship fun, guest-piloted by swing and shuffle captain Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, known throughout the world for their ability to bring the sounds of Louis Jordan and Bob Wills to life.

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School, where drinking and drawing is the norm, will host their Halloween show and model Miss Annie Jones Tuesday, October 26th. With three rounds of poses; a warm up round of one and two-minute poses, some five and ten-minute poses, breaks, and as many long poses (15-20 minute) as can fit along with prizes and contests. Dry mediums only; pen and ink, markers, crayons, pencils, graphite, pastels, etc.

Big Dog Theater Open[ing] in Coventry?

The old Centrum movie theater in Cleveland Heights' Coventry Village was SUPPOSED to be getting a new lease on life as Big Dog Theater—a 'venue dedicated to live comedy in all its forms'—today. This weekend's two-day grand-opening celebration looks to be off as a message from the owner states on their homepage that they are waiting for their certificate of occupancy from the city. IngenuityFest 2010 is THIS weekend 9.24—26.

IngenuityFest 2010 is this weekend, September 24th—26th below the Detroit Superior Bridge. Admission is FREE. Some very cool things are planned for the venue, too. Like a multi-colored waterfall dumping 10,000 gallons of water below and Cleveland Rock Gym climbers rappelling off the bridge and climbing up it. And be sure to visit the Dr. Sketchy crew at their Doodle BarA video of how to get to the lower level of the bridge can be found on the official website. Note: THIS humble blog is featured on the IngenuityFest website.

Arts Network Education Workshop @ Art House 9.22

OWednesday, September 22 the COSE Arts Network will present an evening of arts-business education and discussions at Art House, in Old Brooklyn. Local business leaders from Cavitch Legal Association will be on hand to discuss some business and contract basics that will help you with some of the day-to-day business activities of your arts career.

Following that, successful local artist Susie Frazier Mueller will lead a discussion about various distribution outlets for artists and creative professionals.

Dana L. Depew "Studies in Nepotism" - The Grand Finale 9.10—10.3

Let's support Dana Depew as he closes one chapter of his life, along with his Tremont gallery, Asterisk. Dana has been a great supporter of our Drawn & Quartered project and many of it's artists. He's also hosted a GREAT party every second Friday of every month for nine years as well as other select openings. Asterisk will be missed.
