Shore Folk Festival Saturday, 2.23 Noon–6PM

The inaugural Shore Folk Festival—an all-day celebration of traditional American music to be held in the performing arts wing of Shore Cultural Centre—will be a full menu of local and national talent offering master workshops and performances. Led by top-caliber artists and musicians, everyone from beginners to aficionados can check out sessions that let them get 'hands-on' with new musical styles, literary skills or even swing dancing. There’s something for every age and ability level, with a special track of kids workshops offered concurrently. Featuring workshops, performances, dance and poetry.

Two performances will be highlighted on the acoustically exceptional Shore Auditorium stage; a matinee concert will feature the artists of Roots of American Music, known for their quality youth and school programs, in a danceable, interactive kids show at 3PM. The headline concert—and full-on jam—takes the stage at 7PM, with a host of top musical talent, including Mark Olitsky, Pete McDonald, Lynn Frederick, Hillbilly IDOL, Janice Pohl and a series of guest artists.

Participating artists and organizations include The Beachland Ballroom, Roots of American Music, organizers of the Raccoon County Music Festival, Mac’s Backs, Mark Olitsky, Emily Ingalls, Laura Lewis and Ray DeForest. Check out Facebook for updates or by calling 216.289.8578. Workshop tickets are just $2 for individual session, or $5 for a full-day pass that lets you visit as many sessions as you like. Also offer are family passes for $15, for those who want to let their children take part in kids sessions while they sit in on master series.
